WelcomeImDrCarla.png
Thanks for stopping by! I'm so glad that you're interested in becoming a Founding Member of the A Heart for Girls™ Collective! The A Heart for Girls™ Collective is an ongoing training and coaching program where I’ll give you research-based training, practical tools, and innovative ideas to help you become more effective in your work with girls every month and leaders of girl groups provide engaging and impactful programs.

Unfortunately, the doors are closed for Founding Members.

But here's the good news:

I am working behind the scenes with our founding members to create a powerful training for educators, school administrators, counselors, therapists, coaches, speakers, facilitators, or other girl-serving professionals who want to better understand teen girls and learn how to incorporate coaching skills into their work.

I'm really excited about the amazing group of women we have on board who are ready to elevate their work with girls! So far our members include educators, school counselors, nurses, social workers, public health professionals, journalists, girls’ ministers, authors of girl empowerment books, group fitness instructors, artists, girl-serving entrepreneurs, nonprofit founders, speakers, coaches, women who are just getting started, and seasoned girl empowerment practitioners.

A Note From Your Teacher

 Sisters-CallToAction.png

If you're not already familiar with my work, allow me to introduce myself...

I am an international leadership coach for women and girls, keynote speaker, health and media literacy educator, and girls’ studies researcher. I’ve devoted 25 years of my life to educating, inspiring, and encouraging girls, while developing my transformational girl empowerment pedagogy.  I’ve worked with thousands of girls, dating back to my teen years. As the founder of Teen Girl University™, I specialize in helping girls and parents thrive through the pressures and transitions of adolescence.

For 15 years, I served as the founder and former Executive Director of Helping Our Teen Girls In Real Life Situations, Inc. (HOTGIRLS)®, an award-winning 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young women and girls to develop leadership skills, create positive social change in their communities, and realize their full potential.

I also mentor and coach caring women who are passionate about empowering girls.  As a consultant and the founder of the A Heart for Girls™ Collective, I help women, educators, coaches, and girl-serving professionals learn how to better understand girls and create relevant, innovative, and impactful girl-serving programs and businesses.

I have a degree in psychology from Spelman College. I completed my Master of Public Health and Ph.D. degrees in Health Behavior and Health Education, with a doctoral cognate in Social Work from the University of Michigan (U-M), and a specialization in adolescent girls and racial/ethnic disparities in health.  My research on the intersections between girls’ health, self-definition, and sexuality with social media, hip hop culture, and race/ethnicity was the first published study on black girls and social media. I also taught courses on black women's health and representations of women in hip hop and popular culture in the U-M Department of Women's Studies.

I am a certified professional coach and have completed numerous coach trainings and certifications with a focus on personal development, positive psychology, transformational coaching, and teen girls. I overcame many challenges during my teen years, and know what it takes to ignite a spark in girls from the inside out.

Why I Created the A Heart for Girls™ Collective

I created the A Heart for Girls™ Collective to share my work because I’ve seen first-hand how life-changing it is for girls from all walks of life. During this critical time in history, I’m committed to getting this work into the hands of as many women and girls as possible. I'm passionate about transforming the work of girl empowerment, one girl and one woman at a time.

I'm sharing 25 years of experience educating and mentoring girls in this membership!

I created this membership because I want to make this world a better place for as many girls as possible, and I believe that together we can be more effective. In this practical program, you’ll get ongoing training, support, guidance and encouragement to help you stay up to date with the knowledge, trends, and skills you need to know to be more relevant, aware, compassionate, and impactful in your work with girls.

If you have a calling for empowering girls and want to learn how to have a deeper impact, I would love to invite you to become a member of the A Heart for Girls Collective when we open the doors again.

I hope you will join me in rising up!

"Dr. Carla's presentation was the most AMAZING experience. It was more than we could have ever imagined!"

Dr. Carla was very interactive. As she told her stories, she also let our students have a voice as well. The interaction between Dr. Carla and the girls was so positive that at the end of the assembly, one little girls stood up and said, 'I'm autistic and this is the first time in four years I've ever felt safe at school' and every one of the girls in that auditorium started applauding her. And that was how the whole assembly went!

Dr. Carla was professional. She spoke to the students' needs and talked about things that our females really needed to hear. The girls shared with me afterwards that they could relate to Dr. Carla because she talked their language. They perceived her as someone who told them things they needed to hear. I knew that Dr. Carla had really impacted our girls was every time I ran into a student, they said, ‘OMG, Mrs. Woolpy, I LOVED Dr. Carla!’

The girls got excited and it was amazing. You could feel the positive energy in the room that Dr. Carla had created for every one of those 600+ girls sitting there in the auditorium.

If you are thinking about bringing Dr. Carla to speak at your school, please do not hesitate. She reaches, inspires and motivates young ladies. My 600 girls at RHS could not stop talking about Dr. Carla and that's what all principals want for our students.

Before Dr. Carla came to our school, we had some situations with our girls involving their self-esteem, bullying, and sexting. She relayed her message to our students about what the students can do to help prevent them from getting into bullying and girl drama. She helped our students feel empowered and important and she did it in an atmosphere where she generated all kinds of positive energy

What Founding Members Are Saying...

"I jumped at the opportunity to become a Founding Member of the A Heart for Girls™ Collective!"

"I have been following (more like stalking) Dr. Carla since 2014. When she started the A Heart for Girls™ Speaking Academy, I knew that I had to be involved. I took the leap and invested in a year-long program in 2016 and also joined the A Heart for Girls™ 6-Month Mastermind in 2018.

I gained so much knowledge and confidence through Dr. Carla’s programs, so I jumped at the opportunity to become a Founding Member of the A Heart for Girls Collective.

Working with girls is so important, and being a part of a group of women that keeps me informed, accountable and inspired can only add to my success as a speaker and coach!"

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with Dr. Carla behind the scenes as the first official Founding Member of the A Heart for Girls™ Collective, and I can’t wait to officially get started!”

“As a speaker and youth facilitator, I have worked with a variety of girl-centered groups and programs. I love what Dr. Carla has shared with me about her vision for the membership and know that it will be a welcome addition to my tool kit!

I am excited about what Dr. Carla is creating because it will give me the ability to access top notch girl-centered training and material that is relevant and addresses current issues head on -- and not only those that the media deems to be important. The innovative resources in the membership will also save me from wasting time googling and searching for strategies and topics to present to girls that are often outdated.

With her guidance, I feel more confident that I will no longer fear that I won’t be truly effective with adolescent girls. I am really looking forward to being able to level up my knowledge and interactions with girls every month, while building meaningful relationships with like-minded women.

If you’re thinking about becoming a member, I hope you will commit to investing in yourself and join me in our tribe of purposeful women so that we can work together to elevate and empower adolescent girls!”

"Joining the A Heart for Girls™ Collective is a No-Brainer!"

Dr. Carla is a jewel!! I completed her 9-Month A Heart for Girls™ Business Academy in 2015 and received so much value from that investment. I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel, when you can save yourself a lot of time.

After she shared the details about the A Heart for Girls™ Collective membership program it was a no brainer. I had to take advantage of her call to action and secure my spot right away.

I don’t have all the answers and I’m open to learning effective ways to engage and empower girls. I am excited and can’t wait to be a part of a community with a trusted mentor and coach.
